Short text
Online Control Charts Monitor
Scope of Functions
This enhancement of control chart functionality allows you to monitor, valuate, and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) information online and provides:
- The ability to monitor control charts by equipment, material, product family (individually or in combinations)
- A simple link to the actual inspection data from within control charts
- The ability to view the most recent statistical information from within control charts
Varying Control LImits
The online monitoring capability permits the use of varying control limits (varying from sample to sample according to sample sizes) for P-charts (share of non-conforming units) and U-Charts (number of non-conforming units). Data input could include actual size and the number of non-conforming units (P or U Charts) or the number of defects (C-charts).
These charts can be applied to the qualitative inspection characteristics, but MES-SPC also enables charting of the normalized yield loss that is represented by quantitative and calculated inspection characteristic.
Charting by Equipment
In standard SAP R/3 functionality, control chart numbers are copied from one inspection point to the next without any changes. The MES-SPC functionality provides the new assignment of control charts for every inspection point. If no appropriate control chart is found, a new chart will be created between the inspection points. This provides the tester or handler the ability to use the charts.
Characteristics Charting Across the Task List
Standard SAP R/3 charting functionality does not permit monitoring control charts for one master inspection characteristic across task lists (master recipes, routings, inspection plans, etc.) The MES-SPC control charts permits charting across task lists for the same master inspection characteristic or the product family.
Restriction: If a master inspection characteristic is used twice in an operation, the control chart cannot handle both characteristics properly.
Automated Valuation for Missing Control Limits
In standard SAP R/3 functionality, if the system finds missing control limits, the system switches to manual sample valuation. The MES-SPC online control chart monitoring functionality enables the automated valuation using the following sequence of priorities:
- Control limits
- Specification limits
- Zero nonconformities (defects)
- Zero nonconforming units
The system can make an automatic valuation with no initial information about the results. Sample sizes and percentages of nonconforming units will initially use zero as the starting point.
Dynamic Chart Correction
Standard SAP R/3 computations of control limits and centerlines of control charts take all samples into account. MES-SPC enables dynamically corrected charts, for which the user needs only the most recent 120 entries. The control limits and the centerline computations are performed automatically in the background at the beginning of results recording and there are at least 1 and at most 29 entries in the chart. If the control limits computation is successful and the chart is not yet activated, it is activated automatically.
Effects on Existing Data
The new valuation modes and control chart types can be assigned to sample procedures with inspection points.
The new SPC criteria can be assigned in the task lists (master recipes, routings or inspection plans).
Using of the control chart by the product family requires a value for characteristic PRODUCT_FAMILY in the classification view of the material master.
Effects on Data Transfer
Effects on System Administration
Effects on Customizing
The relevant function modules have to be added in IMG to define:
- New control chart types (on control charts and control chart tracks levels of the dialog structure)
- New SPC criteria
- New valuation rules
- The standard valuation rule 80 has to be deleted before the new valuation rule 80 will be defined.
- New valuation modes
- The new valuation modes have to be configured based on the new valuation rules.
