New Roles and Corresponding Role Categories for Business Partners (New)
Use
SAP Patient Management handles healthcare processes on the provider side. It manages patient details, cases, movements, billing for customers, and maintains details of all related business partners.
The business object Business Partner includes persons or entities with which an institution maintains business relations.
The business partners related to healthcare processes are:
- Hospital
- Insurance provider
- Employer (of the patient)
- Physician
- External physician
- Employee (of the hospital)
- Customer (self-payer, for example)
As of SAP ECC Industry Extension Healthcare 7.0, with SAP Business Partner (SAP BP) activated, the business partners are maintained using SAP BP which provides central management for business partners. In SAP BP, business partners are classified as 'roles', depending on their functions. The data which is common to all business partners (name, title, address and communication data, identification details) is stored centrally. Furthermore, each role has data specific to its function, for example a HC Physician has details about his or her specialization.
Business partner data can be created, changed, and deleted using the SAP BP transactions. An integrated user interface is available for data entry and modification of all business partner data.
SAP BP classifies partners into the following three categories:
- Person
- Organization
- Group
A partner in SAP BP can simultaneously exist in many roles belonging to a particular category. Relationships amongst business partners can also be maintained, for example one insurance provider can be the head office of another insurance provider.
For SAP Patient Management, the roles required are:
- HC Insurance Provider
- HC Hospital
- HC Employer
- HC Customer
- HC Employee, HC Physician, and HC External Physician
