MED_MAM_1: Rounding the Actual Ad Spec Height (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Industry Extension Media, Enhancement Package 4 (IS-M 604), Business Function 'Media, Advertising Management 2' (MED_MAM_1), when the actual ad spec size is returned from the technical system to Advertising Management you can round the actual ad spec height up or down to a whole number multiple of 1/100, 1/10, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 in the associated unit of measure.

Rounding rules are available to you to do so. You can define the value to be rounded up or down to according to the combination of the booking unit, business content component, design ad type and unit of measure. You can also define a threshold value, so that actual heights that are usually very close to the lower rounding limit, are also rounded down when rounding up is normally to take place.

If you always want to round up to a whole number multiple of 1/4 IN for ads in the booking unit MEDPNC with the content component CARS, define the following rounding rule:

Booking Unit Content Component Unit of Measure Rounding Step Round Up/Down
MEDPNC CARS IN 0,25 + (round up)

In this case, every actual ad spec height that is greater than 4.5 IN and less than or equal to 4.75 IN, is rounded up to 4.75 IN. If you want actual heights up to and including 4.51 IN to be rounded down to 4,5 IN, define an additional threshold value of 0.01 in your rounding rule. This must always be less than the rounding value. You can also use the threshold value in rules with the rounding direction - (round down), so that actual heights, which are very close to the upper rounding limit, are rounded up instead of down.

When the system determines the rounding rule to be applied, it uses a three-level access sequence to access the rounding rules recorded.

  • The first access takes place with specification of the booking unit, content component, design ad type and unit of measure.
  • The second access takes place with specification of the booking unit, content component, and unit of measure.
  • The final access takes place with specification of the booking unit and unit of measure.
  • If you want to apply a general rounding rule, which is not dependent on the content component and design ad type, and an additional rounding rule, which is only to be applied to a specific content component and design ad type combination, to a booking unit, you only need to enter the following rounding rules:
  • Specify the booking unit only for the general rounding rule and do not make any entries for the content component and design ad type.
  • Specify the booking unit, content component and design ad type for the additional rule.

The system calculates the rounded actual height again if the ad spec was changed in the technical system.

Constraints

Note that rounding is only performed for the actual ad spec height and not for the actual width. The system does not round the actual height during creation and modification of orders using the order BAPI.

Effects on System Administration

This function is part of the enhancement implementation /NAM/ISM_AM_IM_HEIGHT_ROUNDING. If you do not want to use this function, deactivate the /NAM/ISM_AM_IM_HEIGHT_ROUNDING implementation using the BAdI Builder (transaction SE19).

Effects on Customizing

To record rounding rules, choose the following on the SAP Easy Access screen: Logistics -> Advertising Management -> Master Data -> Conditions -> Order/Billing Document -> Rounding Rules (transaction /NAM/JH_ROUNDING).
