MED_BP_1: Business Partner Address Processing (Enhanced)

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0, Industry Extension Media (IS-M 605), business function Media, Business Partner (MED_BP_1), you no longer use IS-M Address Management (transaction JGA0) to process address data, but instead the time-dependent address management functions from the SAP Business Partner. This means you can exchange all the address data with SAP CRM and process it in SAP CRM.

Effects on Existing Data

Address Processing

You process a business partner's address data directly on the Maintain Business Partner screen (transaction BP). You can enter a number of addresses and create address usages on the Address Overview tab. The address usages form the basis for mapping the address data to IS-M Address Management.

If you use market coverage, you also assign the addresses to households on the Address Overview tab (and not, as before, on the Address tab).

When changing address data, you can mark certain addresses as pickup points or suppress output determination under Extras in the menu.

The system determines the No Carrier Change Notification indicator automatically for address and name changes. You can use Business Add-In ISM_BP_ADR_CARRIER_NOTIF from enhancement spot ISM_BP_ADDRESSES to override this setting.

Note:
The business partner addresses are stored redundantly in the IS-M Address Management tables to allow compatibility.

Address Check

The postal check for address data has been reimplemented. You can select and confirm cities, streets, and PO boxes using an ABAP List Viewer list, which you can configure as required.

Improvements have also been made to the phonetic search for cities and streets. As a result of the change, you must regenerate the phonetic search fields for the postal data. You can do this in Customizing for SAP Media under Master Data -> SAP Business Partner for Media Companies -> Address -> Convert Phonetic Search Field in Postal Data.

Converting Existing Data

Before you can use the address management functions in the SAP Business Partner, you must convert existing address data using report RJGMIG_ADDRBP2BAS. Before conversion, you must make the following settings in Customizing:

  • Define address types and corresponding assignments to address roles in IS-M
To do this, choose the following activities in Customizing:
  • Cross-Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Business Partner -> Basic Settings -> Address Determination -> Define Address Types

  • Activate time dependency of SAP Business Partner addresses
You make this setting in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under SAP Business Partner -> Activation Switch for Functions.

Effects on Data Transfer

You can transfer address changes as follows:

  • External data transfer in the SAP Business Partner
  • Business Application Programming Interfaces for the SAP Business Partner (BOR object BUS1006), in particular BAPI_BUPA_ADRESS_ADD and BAPI_BUPA_ADRESS_CHANGE

The BP Data Transferreport (RJGAUF00) is no longer available for this purpose.

Effects on System Administration

Synchronizing Address Data

Since you process address data using the SAP Business Partner, you cannot synchronize the data from IS-M to the SAP Business Partner and thereby to the customer and vendor master. This means you no longer need to schedule reports RJGADR10 and RJGADR20. If you have defined batch jobs to schedule these reports, we recommend that you delete them.

You must schedule report BUPTDTRANSMIT to update the address data in the customer and vendor master. To do this, carry out the activity in Customizing for SAP Media under Tools -> Data Transfer -> Synchronize Addresses.

Customer Programs

The IS-M Address Management tables are now only updated redundantly and no longer influence processing. This means programs must not change address data by accessing tables JGTSADR and JGTADRA. Instead, you must implement the corresponding address changes using the Business Application Programming Interfaces from the SAP Business Partner (BOR object BUS1006). If you have implemented customer developments that add or change business partner address data, you must adjust these accordingly.

Business Add-Ins

  • You can use Business Add-In ISM_ADDRESS_PRINTFORM to modify address printing so that it uses the address data from Business Address Services (BAS).
  • You can use Business Add-In ISM_BP_ADR_CARRIER_NOTIF to override the setting whereby the system automatically selects the No Carrier Change Notification indicator when mapping address data in IS-M.

Effects on Customizing

You make the settings for this function in Customizing for the following areas:

  • Cross-Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Business Partner -> Basic Settings -> Address Determination -> Define Address Types
