Short text
User Exit for Alternative Meter Calculations
Scope of Functions
A user exit is available in the current Support Package which makes it possible to use alternative meter calculations. Up to now, the R/3 System could only create linear relationships between the meter readings and the posted quantities.
Example
Meter reading before discharge: 1000 L
Meter reading after discharge: 8000 L
Difference: 7000 L
The system uses the difference to calculate the quantity that is to be posted in a specified Unit of Measure (UoM). Further calculation of the meter reading is not possible without this user exit. With the user exit in this Support Package, you can define your own calculation scheme.
In India, for example, tank dips and lorry calibrations are legal requirements for measuring the quantity of oil products. The linear calculation does not take the additional calculation based on the calibration charts into account. The user exit makes it possible to define a special algorithm to calculate meter readings using the calibration charts required for a tank lorry.
Example
Tank dip reading before discharge: 15000 units
Level of product in tank based on calibration chart: 14000 L
Tank dip reading after discharge: 8000 units
Level of product in tank based on calibration chart: 9000 L
Difference based on tank dip reading: 7000 units
Difference based on calibration chart: 5000 L
Prerequisites
In order to make use of this user exit, you must enhance the master data by adding a suitable conversion logic, such as a calibration chart (in the customer namespace). Also, you must create a conversion routine in the user exit.
