Processing of assets

Description

A new processing option Perform asset postings has been added to the cutback process.

If cutback is run with this option cutback will process the cutback postings against assets in two steps:

  1. The original costs or revenues accumulated on the assets are cut back to the partners with an offset to a cutback account that must be defined in the cutback mapping table.
  2. The cutback account is cleared against the original assets.

If cutback is run without this option, only the first step from above will be processed.

In the previous release cutback did automatically always run with postings against assets (identical to the first option).

Example

The following example uses an equity E1 in venture V1 with the following partners:
Operator OP with 60%
Partner P1 with 30%
Partner P2 with 10%

It is also assumed that expenses occurred to the following assets within this venture and equity group:
asset A1-1 5,000 USD
asset A1-2 10,000 USD

Both assets are assigned to reconciliation account 20000 which is mapped to cutback account 699020.

Cutback postings with asset processing would then look like:

    PK    Account/Asset     BI  RI   Amount
   01    P1                4        4,500
   01    P2                4        1,500
   50    699020                CB   6,000-

    PK    Account/Asset     BI  RI   Amount
   40    699020                CB   6,000
    75    A1-1                  CB   2,000-
    75    A1-2                  CB   4,000-

Cutback postings without asset processing would look like:

    PK    Account/Asset     BI  RI   Amount
   01    P1                4        4,500
   01    P2                4        1,500
   50    699020                CB   6,000-

The posting keys, billing indicators, and recovery indicators used in the example above may be different based on the configuration of the posting rules.
