New Component Logistics Execution and IMG Modifications Connected With This Component

Description

The component "Logistics Execution" has been incorporated in the first level of the component hierarchy. Therefore, the following changes apply in the IMG as of Release 4.5A:

  • The section "Integration Decentralized WMS" is new.
  • The section "Warehouse Management" hast been integrated into the new component.
(Before Release 4.5A under the component Materials Management)
  • The sections Shipping and Transportation have been integrated into the new component.
(Before Release 4.5A under the component Sales and Distribution)
  • The sections "Archiving" and "Authorization management" have been extended and now include all the activities concerning archiving and authorization within Logistics Execution.
Under the section "Archiving", you will find the following activities:
  • Archiving concept for Warehouse Management

  • Control of archiving for deliveries

  • Control of archiving for shipments

  • Control of archiving for shipment costs

The section "Authorization Management" is now made up of the following activities:
  • Define authorizations

  • Define profiles

These sections do not contain any acitivities on the authorization concept for Warehouse Management. Information on this subject is available -- as up to now -- in the structure Warehouse Management in the section "Tools".
  • The section "Decentralized Shipping" has been renamed R/2-R/3 link.
  • The term "shipping notification" has been renamed "inbound delivery", if the document is referred to. The term "shipping notification" is still used in the communication environment as an output type.
  • The section "Warehouse Management" that has been moved from Materials Management has been integrated into the component "Logistics Execution".
  • Within the current structure for "Warehouse Management", the following nodes have been created:
  • Hazarouds Materials -> "Copy hazardous material data from substance database"

  • Activities -> "Appointments" (up to now in IMG for Purchasing)

  • Processing performance data / TO split (subitem of section "Transfers") -> "Define comments on TO execution"

  • Interfaces - Inventory Management -> "Allow negative stocks in interim storage types"

  • Interfaces -> "Define kanban"

  • The section "Shipping" from Sales and Distribution has been integrated into the new component "Logistics Execution". Many activities that pertain to shipping and used to be located in the basic functions of Sales and Destribution can now be maintained exclusively in the basic data of Shipping:
  • Shipping point determination

  • Scheduling

  • Routes

  • Incompleteness control for delivery

  • Serial numbers

  • Availability check and requirement transmission

  • Output control

  • Partner

  • Text determination

  • Pricing

  • Material determination

  • Listing/Exclusion

  • Under the new section "Scheduling", the activities Shipment Scheduling and Transportation Scheduling as well as Shipping Deadlines are grouped together.
  • From the section "Output control", only those parts have been removed from the basic Sales data that need to be maintained for Shipping. Under the section "Output determination", you will now also find the section "Maintain output control for inbound deliveries".
  • From the sections "Availability check and transfer of requirements" as well as "Pricing", we have removed parts from the basic sales data that needs to be maintained for shipping.
  • Under the section "Partner" you can maintain basic data as well as pricing data. The activities in the item Master Data were maintained in earlier releases under Sales --> Master data --> Business partner --> Customers --> Shipping.
  • In the section "Deliveries", a new activity "Define order acknowledgements for inbound deliveries" has been included.
  • The activity "Define copy control for deliveries" has been added under a new section since there are two new activities "Define copy requirements" and " Define form routines for data transfers". The latter activities were located up to now under the section System Modifications.
  • Under the section "Determine Doors and Material Staging Areas", there is a new section "Determine material staging area at delivery item level".
  • In the section "Groups of Deliveries", we have deleted the activity "Define group type for collective picking list" since picking can be processed through Lean WM.
  • The activity "Define display of lists for deliveries" has been deleted and has now been included under the item Delivery List, together with the following activities:
  • Set updating of partner index

  • Set updating of item index

  • Define selection criteria

  • Under the section Worklists, the activity "Define display of worklist for deliveries in process" has been deleted because as of Release 4.5A the topic Delivery Monitor is used instead.
  • The section Decentralized Shipping has been renamed to R/2-R/3 Link.
  • In the new section "System Modifications", you can maintain activities that were listed before under System Modifications in Sales.
  • Since Shipment has been relisted under the new component "Logistics Execution", it was also necessary to remove certain activities from the basic functions in Sales to the item Basic Shipping Functions. These include:
  • Output control

  • Partner control

  • Text control

  • Routes

  • All the sections under "Route determination" are new.
  • The following items in "Shipments" are new:
  • Define and assign activity profiles

  • Maintain additional data

Before, the activity profiles were listed under the section "Maintain shipment types".
  • The following items under "Shipment costs" are new:
  • Define rounding rules

  • Overviews

  • Define condition index

  • Copy control for conditions

  • Define profiles for shipment cost information

In the section "Issuer specifications for shipment credit memos" there is now the possibility to use the "ERS procedure for invoice check" or the "ERS procedure for logistics invoice verification".
  • The activity "System modifications in transportation" has been renamed and relisted. It used to be called "User exits in transportation" and was located under the item "System modifications" in Sales.
  • Note:
The entire transportation section has been included in the Logistics Information System.
New activities for update control have now been included in the Logistics Information System (under Logistics General).
