Product Structure Browser: New Functions for the Control Display

Scope of Functions

You can choose between list display or the control display in the settings for the product structure browser.

Up until now the scope of functions for the control display in comparison with the list display was limited.
Starting with this release the control display has more functions :

  • Choice of Destinations
Before this release, you could only display the product structure on a local system. You can now also valuate data in the following destinations:
  • ALE Destinations (according to ALE distribution model)

  • RFC Destinations

  • Determine Layout
You can now also use the function Layout in the control display. You can use this to set display variants for the structure per object type (for example, material).
  • Display Relationships in Context Menu
You use the function settings to set that relationships of an object are not normally shown as nodes of a tree structure rather first after you have selected the individual relationships using the context menu in the current processing situation.
The text files that describe the relationship category in the structure are dropped (for example, document). The display variant displays the the relationship category in the first list column.
The advantage is that the indented spaces are reduced.

Example:
You display the product structure of a material that has documents and BOMs linked to it. Only one line appears in the result screen for the single material. Entries for the existing relationships such as document or BOMs are not available.
You only see what object relationships, such as documents or BOMs exist for an object (for example, material) when you call up the context menu. You can use the context menu to select which relationships you want to display for an object.
  • Display Functions in Context Menu
As of this release, the function bar has only buttons for functions that can be executed for processing the entire tree structure, such as design layout.
You can call up object specific functions with the context menu.
For example, special function exist for the following objects from plant mainenance:
  • Equipment master (dismantle)

  • Functional location (rename, equipment installation, create subordinate functional location)

  • Explode Product Structure
Before, you could not create a seperate expansion tree for objects that have relationships (for example, documents, BOMs). With this release you have the following possibilities to to create a special expansion tree:
  • Expand as new tree (in same window)

  • Expand in new window

The object-related functions are available in each window.
  • Simplified Object Transfer in Change Master Record
You can now reset objects in the object list by using the delete function button as well as using Drag &Drop in the product structure browser while processing change master record, a object folder, or distribution list.

Effects on Existing Data

In the standard system:

  • Explosions (exspansions) occur only on local systems.
  • Object-related display variants and some general fields such as description, deletion indicator, existence of original files and branch to the engineering workbench are contained.
  • Function relationships in context menu is inactive.
