Configuration Profile: New and Changed Functions

Description

In this release, the structure of the configuration profile has changed. The profile now has the following sections:

  • Basic data
  • Configuration initial screen
  • Subordinate

The "Configuration initial screen" section has the following subsections:

  • Configuration parameters
  • User interface
  • Additional subsection for processes Sales order and Order BOM, for settings that are specific to these processes

You can now define object-specific settings for the user interface of the configuration editor. Previously, you could only define user-specific settings. You can overwrite these Settings for your user on the value assignment screen. To call the following functions, you choose Settings on the value assignment screen:

Function Old path on value assignment screen
Language View -> Language
Display options View -> Display options (on value assignment
  screen and result screen)
Scope View -> Scope (on value assignment
  screen and result screen)
Pricing Environment -> Other settings -> Pricing
Default values Extras -> Default values
Configurator Values -> Configurator
active/inactive
Type matching Environment -> Other settings -> Type matching

Alternative Language

Under the language settings, you can enter an alternative language for displaying descriptions, in case an object does not have a description in your preferred language.

Interface Design

In the configuration profile, you can assign a name to an interface design. The Values -> Interface design function is only active on the value assignment screen if you assign a name. This function lets you arrange characteristics on the value assignment screen according to criteria that you define.

You can use the same design for several materials that are allocated to the same class.

To create an interface design, you need authorization C_LOVC_DSG.

Allowed screens/Start with

You can start configuration with one screen only. You select this screen under "Allowed screens".

Configuration Browser

You can select the configuration browser for configuring a material. To do this, select Confign browser under "Allowed screens". In the configuration editor, you then see the configuration structure with configurable materials and class nodes. You can select a configurable material to see its characteristics on the same screen. This means that you no longer need the "Confign structure" and "Value assignment" screens.

Type matching

In the configuration profile, you can define how the BOM of the configurable material is exploded in the sales order:

  • None
This indicator is the same as the old setting Planned/prod. order: Single-level. The BOM of the material is not exploded in the sales order.
  • Sing-lev
This indicator is new in this release. It lets you define that only the BOM of the material in the sales order item is exploded in the sales order.
Previously, you did not have the option of exploding one level of a BOM in the sales order. This meant that the system always made all checks that were relevant to all levels when exploding the BOM. If you select Sing-lev, these checks are no longer made, so the result of the BOM explosion can be displayed more quickly. You can set this indicator for the processes Order BOM and Sales order. With the process Sales order, all sales-relevant components of the BOM of the header material are exploded and included as sub-items of the main item in the sales order. The BOMs of sub-items in the sales order are not exploded.
With the process Order BOM, you set this indicator if you only want to maintain the BOM of the header material as an order BOM.
  • Multi-level BOM explosion
This indicator is the same as the old setting Planned/prod. order: Multi-level. With the processes Sales order and Order BOM, a multi-level BOM can be exploded in the sales order or when you process the order BOM.

If you use the Sales order process, an additional subsection, "Sales order", is displayed. In this subsection, you can define whether sales-relevant components of the BOM can be changed manually in the sales order.

If you use the Order BOM process, an additional subsection, "Order BOM", is displayed. In this subsection, you can define settings for saving and processing the order BOM:

  • Result only
The configuration result of the BOM is saved, not the super BOM. You maintain the BOM by choosing Bill of material -> Order BOM -> Result-oriented.
  • Maint. in order allowed
In the sales order, you see a pushbutton for going directly to order BOM processing.
  • Automatic hold
This indicator is the same as it was in Releases 3.0 and 3.1.

You can define default values for the settings for instantiation and fixing. You can overwrite these defaults when you process an order BOM. You can only define settings for instantiation if you set the Result-oriented order BOM indicator.

BOM Explosion: Filters

Filters for BOM explosion let you influence the scope of BOM items that are displayed when the BOM is exploded. This improves the system performance for BOM explosions.

You can restrict the BOM items displayed by object type (class, material, document, or text), by item category, by item status (for example, sales-relevant or production-relevant), by sort string, and by class filter.

Type matching

The settings that you define for the configuration initial screen and in the basic data apply to the use of the material as a header material in the BOM structure. Under "Subordinate", you can define settings that affect the use of the material as a subordinate assembly in a BOM structure.

Type matching

If you create more than one configuration profile for a material, you can define priorities for the profiles. The priority is most important if you configure the material in the background or using IDoc processing. These processes use the profile with the highest priority. The profile with the lowest number has the highest priority. In dialog processing, you see a dialog box for selecting a profile. In the dialog box, the configuration profiles are sorted according to priority.

In the configuration profile, you can specify a precondition for a configuration profile by choosing Extras -> Profile selection with precondition. This function is for cases where there is more than one configuration profile. You can use the precondition to determine which configuration profile is selected. However, the precondition only takes effect if the material is used as an assembly in a configurable BOM, not if the material is a header material. The precondition is processed once only, when the material is selected.
