Terminology Changes in the Retail Information System (RIS)

Description

In Release 4.5B, the English descriptions of the key figures in the Retail Information System (RIS) are being changed to reflect the terminology used in the US retail industry.

The terms changed are illustrated by the following table:

Term in key figures prior to 4.5B	New term in key figures as of 4.5B
PPw/oVAT	at cost
PPw/VAT	at cost with tax
SPw/oVAT	at retail
SPw/VAT	at retail with tax
Value-added tax	tax
Till receipt	transaction - where context is clear
Sales price	retail price
Purchase price	cost (price)

The main change involve key figures representing inventory values without tax. Prior to 4.5B, two key figures existed in each case for inventory values at retail: a key figure without value-added tax and a key figure with value-added tax. Since retail values in the US are always exclusive of tax, the key figure in each case for inventory values at retail will be represented by "at retail" (with no mention of "without value-added tax"). A second key figure will continue to exist in each case for inventory values with tax and will be represented by "at retail with tax".

"Value-added tax" will be shortened to simply "tax".
