Sending and receiving documents externally
Description
In addition to sending documents externally via a telecommunications service, Release 2.1A also allows documents to be sent via X.400 and to another SAP System.
The addresses of the recipients must either exist in the central address management or must be entered in the send screen.
You can also receive external documents. They are then placed in the inbox.
SAPcomm is responsible for communications. For further information, please see the corresponding release information.

To send a document externally, proceed as follows:
- Select the document you want to send.
- Select Mail -> Send.
- Enter the address number. You have the following options:
- direct entry
- selection using matchcode
To do this, select Extras - Addresses.
- If you have entered the address directly, enter A (for address) as the recipient type.

Select ENTER.
The standard communications service maintained for the address is entered in the field ComServ. If several specifications/numbers are maintained for a service, the default is used.
You can display the complete address and all specifications maintained for the communications service by positioning the cursor on the address number and selecting F2(Display).
You can use the following options to select another communications service (the cursor must be positioned on the communications service):
- enter the ID of the required communications service
- display the communications services maintained for the specified address with F2(Display) and select
- display the possible entries with F4 and select
- Assign send attributes, if required.
- To send the document, select Document - Send
- Note
- You can find information about the send status in the private recipient list. The attribute WT (wait) means that the recipient has not yet received the document. If the attribute is not set, the document has been received.
If you want to send the document to an address which is not maintained in the address management, select Document - Send externally.
