Enhanced Search Options in Training and Event Management

Use

The new ESS Service Training Center offers users extensive options when searching for business events.

For example, the function enables a fulltext search using texts and text attributes that occur in the descriptive texts stored for business event types. These texts are stored in the subtypes of the Description infotype (1002):

  • General description
  • Business event contents
  • Notes
  • Extended business event text

In addition, this release of Training and Event Management provides a connection to the SAP Retrieval System that enables customers to integrate an external search engine to facilitate and accelerate the search for business events.

Effects on Existing Data

If certain business event types are not to be included for Internet/ intranet display, you must maintain this information for them specifically in infotype 1029. Such business events are then excluded from the object indexing process for the external search engine.

Note:
We recommend that you maintain infotype 1029 for the relevant objects via the Dynamic Tool Menu since you can maintain it for multiple objects in one step there.

If you plan to integrate an external search engine, you must maintain the connection in Customizing for Training and Event Management under Basic Settings → Dialog Control → Technical Settings → Set Up External Search Engine.
