Process instructions for R/3 PI sheet: Changes and enhancements

Effects on Customizing

As of Release 3.0B, the following changes and enhancements apply to process instructions for the R/3 PI sheet. For more detailed information on the individual functions, please refer to the Implementation Guide for process management and the application documentation.

To be able to use the new characteristics you first have to copy them to your client:
Copy predefined characteristics

You can then use the new functions for processing your process instruction categories:

General information:

  • Use of text symbols (former designation: variable) for text characteristics:
In the case of characteristics that are valuated with a long or a short text, you can include the value of another characteristic in the text by using a text symbol.

Dynamic function calls:

  • Changing parameters:
The basis function for creating function modules was extended by the option to define changing parameters for a function module. You can take these parameters into account in dynamic function calls by using the characteristic PPPI_CHANGING_PARAMETER.
  • Function call in the display mode:
Using the characteristic PPPI_FUNCTION_DURING_DISPLAY, you can specify in a dynamic function call whether the function can only be called when processing or also when displaying the PI sheet.
  • Definition of constant values passed for export parameters:
If you want to pass on a constant value for an export parameter of a function call, you can use every characteristic whose format matches the data type of the export parameter for defining this value. The characteristics PPPI_DATE_CONSTANT, PPPI_TIME_CONSTANT, PPPI_STRING_CONSTANT and PPPI_FLOAT_CONSTANT are still available for this purpose.
  • Calling the order confirmation from the PI sheet:
With Release 3.0B, SAP delivers the process instruction categories CONF_OP and CONF_PH in the SAP reference client as further examples for dynamic function calls. Using these examples, you can call the confirmation function for operations or phases.

Process data requests:

  • Definition of constant default values:
As of Release 3.0B, you define a constant default value for an input characteristic by first directly allocating the message characteristic (PPPI_REQUESTED_VALUE) defined as an input characteristic to the process instruction and valuating it with the required default value.
Old process instructions in which a default value was defined by means of the characteristics PPPI_DEFAULT_STRING and PPPI_DEFAULT_VALUE are still processed correctly. However, SAP recommends the new process for the definition of new default values.
  • Authorization check for signatures
As of Release 3.0B, you can activate an authorization check for PI sheets using the following settings:
  • If you set the indicator Password in the control recipe destination, you will be prompted to enter a password when entering a signature.

Define control recipe destination
  • Using the characteristic PPPI_SIGNATURE_AUTHORIZATION, you can additionally specify an authorization for the PI sheet in the process data request. The user must have this authorization to enter a signature.
