Serial Numbers in Inventory Management

Description

Stock check

You can now determine from the serial number profile to what extent the system should check the stock data of a serialized material with regard to requirements in Inventory Management.

If a check takes place and the stock data is found to be inconsistent, the system issues a warning or an error message. In the event of an error message, the serial number cannot be used.

The check takes place at plant and warehouse level, not for stock types or special stock.

Movement type group

In addition, a new parameter - the movement type group - has been included in the serial number profile for the serialization procedures. Using the movement type group, you can group movement types in Customizing for Inventory Management. By assigning movement type groups to a serialization procedure, you define the for the assigned movement:

• Whether serial number requirement exists for the materials assigned to the profile

• Whether a serial number, including an equipment master record, is created automatically during a goods movement in Inventory management
