FND_EPT_PROC_ORCH_1: Process Analytics and BI Content (New)

Use

As of SAP Business Suite Foundation 7.31 you can use DataSources to extract data from the process log to SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse. The DataSources are direct-access enabled, which means they can be directly accessed from SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse by virtual providers. BI Content for process orchestration is provided by the following releases:

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI Content Add-On 6 SP 02
  • SAP NetWeaver 7.3 BI Content Add-On 5 SP02

The following data is extracted by the DataSources:

  • Process KPIs
  • Process instances
  • Activities (process steps)
  • Tasks (events)

You can use this data to analyze process performance and to identify critical process instances and use this information as a basis for process optimization.

In addition, you can use Operational Data Providers (ODPs) for the DataSources which can also be activated through the BI Content activation workbench. They can be used for local operational analytics of process log information without SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse. ODPs can be used with SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator.

You can also use SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search as search models for process instances are provided.

Effects on Existing Data

BI content analysis is based on data from process logs which is collected for analytical purposes. For more information on process logs, see the release note FND_EPT_PROC_ORCH_1: Process Visibility, Logging, and Monitoring.

You make the Customizing settings for this function in Customizing for Process Observer, under Customizing for Cross-Application Components -> Processes and Tools in Enterprise Applications, in the following Customizing activities:

  • BI Content Activation -> Activate Business Intelligence Objects
  • Business Add-Ins -> BadI: Extend DataSources for BW Extraction
