Object Links (Enhanced)

Use

As of SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0, the following additional object link types are available in Portfolio Management:

  • Material in PLM Web UI
  • Recipe in PLM Web UI
  • WBS Element Milestone (PS)
  • Network Activity Milestone (PS)
  • Document (DMS)
  • Account Assgmt: Maintenance Order

For all above mentioned object link types except Document (DMS) and Account Assgmt: Maintenance Order, SAP Business Suite 7 Innovations 2010 or higher is required.

Additionally, the following features for object links have been added:

The ID of the object is now displayed as a link in the Identificationcolumn. When you select this link, the system displays the detail data of the linked object in Portfolio Management as read-only.

You can adjust the detail data in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Portfolio Management -> Base System Interfaces -> Application Object Settings -> Define Object Link Types -> Fields per Object Type.

In the Applicationcolumn, there is a link that calls up the transaction or URL specified for the linked object directly. If several applications are assigned to the linked object, the system displays a list of all applications and the corresponding direct links. You configure which applications can be started in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Portfolio Management -> Base System Interfaces -> Application Object Settings ->

  • Make Settings for Calling an SAP Transaction. Here, you also define the description of the transaction or URL.
  • Define Object Link Types. In this Customizing activity, select an object type and choose Service for an Object Type.

You can create links to unidentified objects, for example, when you are planning a link to an object that does not yet exist. Therefore, select the Identify Object Latercheckbox when creating the object link, then choose Add Objects. A new entry is created with the text Object not yet identified in the Identificationcolumn.

To change the unidentified link into a link to a specific object, select the relevant entry and choose Edit.
