UI Alignments (Enhanced)

Use

As of SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0, several UI alignments are available for the Project Management area, the Portfolio Management area, as well as between the Project Management and Portfolio Management area. SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 replaces both the SAP Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP RPM) application and the Collaboration Projects (cProjects) application.

Areas of Alignment

The following alignments are available:

  • Floor Plan Manager (FPM) usage
  • Object Instance Floorplan (OIF), for example for project details
  • Quick Activity Floorplan (QAF), for example for the multi-project monitor
  • 4.5 Dashboards have been replaced with work centers in 5.0 (see below)
  • Message Area (always visible)
  • Terminology (see below)
  • Structure of IMG and online help (see below)

Work Centers

The dashboards of release 4.5 have been transformed into work centers in release 5.0. The application views (scopes) in the 4.5 dashboards (such as Last Used Projects, Projects, Favorites, Active Items, or Inactive Items) have been replaced with tabs. The standard views set of columns that are visible by default have been changed.

Opening a project or an item from the work center opens the details in a new window.

Refresh functionality for work centers: You can display the latest refresh date of the dashboard table in this session. In Project Management, if you choose Refresh, the system does not run the evaluations that fill the fields of the dashboard tables, but shows the same behavior as if you had logged on again.

The new Reports pages provide links to BI Web reports.

Services

For Project Management, the following functions are now offered as services:

  • Search
  • Substitute
  • Vacant Roles
  • User Settings
  • Search (under Services): New search across all Project Management objects. This is in addition to the object-specific searches provided in each work center. The search result screen remains open when you open one of the objects in the search result list.

For Portfolio and Project Administration, the following functions are now displayed under Services:

  • Project Version Administration
  • Project Document Templates
  • Project Authorization Administration
  • Create Resource
  • Edit Resource

Version Managementhas been renamed to Project Version Administration. You can access it from the Project Management - Versions work center as well as from the Portfolio and Project Administration work center.

The Authorization Administration function that was available in cProjects 4.5 has been renamed to Project Authorization Administration and is no longer a separate application but instead is offered under Services.

For Portfolio Management, the following functions are now offered as services:

  • Search
  • Substitute
  • User Settings
  • Search (under Services): Enhanced search across all objects within a Portfolio now includes:
  • Items

  • Initiatives

  • Collections

  • Reviews

  • Documents(KPro documents only)

  • Resources

Terminology Alignment

Multiple terms have been aligned between Project Management and Portfolio Management or have been changed in one of the applications. The updated terms are available in SAPTerm and in the glossary on SAP Help Portal. Moreover, you can find a list of all terms that have been changed for SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 in SAP Note 1381295.

Structure of IMG and Online Help

The IMG for SAP Portfolio and Project Management has been aligned to reflect the new structure of the component hierarchy. The following nodes have been created:

  • SAP Portfolio and Project Management
  • Portfolio Management

Most of the Customizing activities that were positioned under SAP xApp Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP xRPM) for release 4.5 have been moved to here.
  • Project Management

Most of the Customizing activities that were positioned under cProjects for release 4.5 have been moved to here.
  • Common Functions

This node contains the following areas:
- Decision Flow Management Settings
- Metrics Management
- Import and Export of Project Data
- Search
- SAP NetWeaver Identity Management for SAP Portfolio and Project Management

The online help for Portfolio and Project Management has also been merged. It contains the same structuring nodes as the IMG, as follows:

  • Portfolio Management
  • Project Management
  • Common Functions

New

New Customizing for search in the Project Management area:

SAP Portfolio and Project Management -> Common Functions -> Search -> Define Search Help for Project Management.

Modified

Define Absolute URL for Calling Project Management: Customizing and functionality for including links to project elements (URLs) in e-mails has been enhanced to support the following

  • SAP NetWeaver Portal
  • SAP NWBC for HTML
  • SAP NWBC for Desktop

You can only define one link for collaborations (NWBC for HTML). Old URLs from cProjects 4.0/4.5 should still work as they will be redirected to the new screens.

Removed

The following Customizing activities have been removed:

  • Make General Interface Settings:
Collaboration Projects -> Basic Settings -> Make General Interface Settings
This Customizing activity to define the settings for header line, customer logo, and Info page is obsolete and has been removed. Equivalent settings can be made via portal content adjustments or in PFCG role customizing.
  • Define Initial Views:
Collaboration Projects -> Basic Settings -> Define Initial Views for cProjects
This Customizing activity to define the initial views for cProjects is obsolete and has been removed. Equivalent settings can be made via portal content adjustments or in PFCG role customizing. In addition, please note that the initial view Resource Planning for embedding the resource planning application (RPA) if the WFM Core integration for resource management is used is not available in 5.0. The RPA can be called separately if required.
