LOG_PP_PROD_ORD_SPLIT:,,Business Function Order Split (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enterprise Extension SAP_APPL, Enhancement Package 4 (SAP_APPL 604), the business function Order Split is available.

This business function provides you with enhanced functions for the order split that enable you to react to unforeseen events in production, changed customer requirements, or changes in priority of the production orders. The costs are allocated proportionally between the parent order and the child order, thus enabling a meaningful comparison of planned and actual costs.

To allocate the costs between the parent and child orders, you must specify a by-product at the time of the split, to which the costs of the parent order already occurred are transferred proportionally to the child order. The by-product must be a material that is subject to a batch management requirement and individually valuated.

There are three split methods:

  • Split with same material
The material of the parent and child orders is the same.
  • Split with other material
The materials of the parent and child orders differ.
  • Split to warehouse
The product that has arisen from work operations to date is placed in storage as a by-product.

You can also determine the split quantity via WIP batches, component batches, or planned independent requirements.

If there were problems involving the goods receipt of the by-product and it was not possible to post the goods receipt, the status of the order is set to 'Locked Through Splitting'. In this case, it is necessary to postprocess the split. You can use the function Order → Postprocessing → Order Split in the production order to repost the goods receipt of the by-product. To revoke the status 'Locked Through Splitting' and continue processing the order, you can use the function Order → Postprocessing → Lock Status.

BAdIs for customer-specific enhancements and for price calculation purposes are available for the order split in Customizing under Production -> Shop Floor Control -> Master Data -> Order -> Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) for the Order Split.

Effects on Existing Data

The interfaces in the SAP menu for the order split have been adjusted to accommodate the enhanced order split functions:

  • Selection of split method
  • Depending on the split method specified, further fields are shown
  • Field for the by-product to which the costs incurred for the child order can be posted

  • Field for material if the latter differs from the material of the order

  • Pushbutton to determine the split quantity:

This takes you to a further screen with a selection field with the possible ways of determining the split quantity.
  • Enhancement of the Order menu in the production order through the addition of the option Order → Postprocessing.
