ILM_CDE_CONT_SAP_APPL: CDE Content for Software Component SAP_APPL
Use
As of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 (SAP_APPL 605), you can use the business function ILM: CDE Content for Software Component SAP_APPL (ILM_CDE_CONT_SAP_APPL).
Using this business function, you can use the extraction services of the Context Data Extractor(CDE) of SAP NetWeaver Information Lifecycle Management to archive data for the Product Liability Audit Area when an SAP system is decommissioned. This audit area from Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) contains primarily data that was already included in existing archiving objects and archiving classes (ADK files).
Using the extraction services, you can archive the following information:
- Master data
- Customizing data
- Metadata of the ABAP Dictionary
This information forms the context that is needed for evaluating master data and transaction data after the decommissioning of the original system.
After the system is decommissioned, you can select the archived data with the Retention Warehouse an upload it to SAP NetWeaver BI. There you can evaluate the data or use it in audit.
Effects on Existing Data
If you have already archived your transaction data, you can register existing archiving objects as part of the ILM content. When you register an archiving object, the CDE recognizes the data of the archiving object as part of the solution and it provides additional functions for loading the data to the Retention Warehouse. You can use extraction services as of Release 4.6 C. SAP System Landscape Optimization (SLO) provides the necessary software on a project basis.
Effects on Customizing
You have to perform the Customizing activities under the following path: SAP NetWeaver -> Application Server -> Basis Services -> Information Lifecycle Management -> Retention Warehouse -> Context Data Extractor.
