Short text
Bills of Material: Historical Object Dependency
Description
The bill of material of a standard product includes all planned variants of a product line. The description of the individual actual product variant is given via characteristic value assignment (object dependencies). Via object dependency, bidirectional dependencies are described between the objects of this bill of material. You determine, for example, via object dependencies for a certain BOM item for which characteristic value of another BOM item this item is selected.
As of this release, you can historically change object dependency. The change is made with reference to a change master record whose valid-from date determines the beginning of the change. The status before and after the changes is stored.
If you want to change the object dependency for a BOM item with reference to a change number, you must first make the following settings in the change master record:
- The following indicators are set for the object type "Bills of material": Object
type for change number active and For each object a control record is required.
A control record exists for the bill of material.
- For the object type "Dependency maintenance", the indicator Object type for change number active is set.
During the bill of material processing which contains at least one item to which object dependency is allocated, the following connections exist:
- The object dependency which is maintained for a BOM item can be maintained without reference to a change number until the bill of material is historically changed (specification of a change number).
- If the bill of material is changed with reference to a change number and the object dependency for a BOM item is to be maintained, the indicator Object type for change number active for the object type "Dependency maintenance" must have been set.
- If the bill of material is changed with reference to another change number, this change number must also be defined for the object type "Dependency maintenance".
- If the object dependency, which is allocated to a BOM item, was already historically changed, you
must also process the bill of material with reference to a change number which is defined for the object type "Dependency maintenance".
This is, for example, the case if you copy a bill of material and the copied BOM contains at least one item whose allocated object dependency was already historically changed.
