Maintenance enhancements for the change master record

Description

As of this release, there are the following changes concerning change master maintenance:

Renaming in menu

In the Environment menu, the Object structure function has been renamed and is now called Product structure.

There have been the following enhancements for change master record maintenance:

New authorization object

Up until now, you could control change master record maintenance using the authorization object Change master - authorization group. As of this release, you can also control the authorization checks using the authorization object Change master - enhanced authorization check for the following entries:

• Release key for change master record

• Change number function (for example, change leader, change package)

• Change number status

New status information

On the Change header screen, the following new information is displayed:

• Where-used indicator for change number

• Change number is currently being used in objects indicator

New object type for the contents of a variant table

In variant configuration you can process the contents of variant tables with reference to change numbers. You cannot control individual variant tables using object management records.

Routing/task list indicator

The procedure when you set the indicator for the task list object type has been changed when you create a change master record with one of the following functions:

• With release key

• Change package

• Determining effectivity using effectivity type

AS these functions are not yet supported for all task list types, you cannot set an indicator for task lists on the Object types screen. You cannot set this indicator until you have set the indicators for the sub-object types.

1. On the Object types screen, choose Edit -> Other -> Specify object types. You see the Object sub-type dialog box.
2. Set the Task list sub-types indicator and choose Copy.
3. On the Object types scren you can now set the indicators for the task list types that supprt these functions:

• Routings

• Reference operation sets

Change hierarchy distribution

For the ALE distribution of change master records, you can now make settings under control data in Customizing to determine whether the change hierarchy should be completely distributed. In this case, the assigned change packages are also distributed.

• You make settings for authorizations in Auhorization management.

You control the ALE distribution of change mastzer records in work step Set up control data.
