Direct Assignment of Objects to Alternative Dates

Scope of Functions

A new function is available for objects that can be processed using object management records (bill of material, routing, document, material). You use this function for creating or changing bills of material etc. using a change number, when you want the system to automatically generate object management records.

If the change number already contains one or more alternative dates, you can assign the object directly to an alternative date on the initial screen for object maintenance (for example, on the initial screen for changing bills of material). To do this you no longer have to go to the screen for editing change master records. If you want to create or change a bill of material, routing, document or material with one of these change numbers, the system displays a dialog box with a list of the alternative dates from the change master record. You carry out the assignment in this box.

Effects on Customizing

If you want to use this function you should set the Assign alternative date indicator in Customizing for Engineering Change Management in the Set up control data step.
