New Customer Exits in Engineering Change Management

Scope of Functions

Three new customer exits are now avaliable in Engineering Change Management:

A check when setting the system status

With your own enhancement module you can check if the system status is allowed to be set, and prevent this if necessary.

The interface exports the system status that the user wants to set. This can be the status of an engineering change request/order (for example, Approve order) or of an object management record (for example, Release change). Beyond this, the values from all record tables in Engineering Change Management are exported. You can define your own rules to decide whether setting the system status is allowed or not. If the status should not be set, an exception and a system message should be triggered.

A check before saving a change number

Before you save a change master record, the data can be checked with your own enhancement module, and saving disallowed if necessary. This is the last chance you have to prevent data from being processed, using your own checks.

The interface exports a key for the maintenance transaction in which the user wants to save data and it exports values from all record tables in engineering change management. From these values you can check using rules defined by yourself, whether the data should be saved. If the status should not be set, an exception and a system message should be triggered.

A check when leaving the initial screen

When you leave the initial screen, with your own enhancement module, you can check whether the user is allowed to continue with the task. For example, you can define with your own enhancements, that certain users can only process engineering change requests with date validity.

The interface exports a key for the maintenance transaction in which the user wants to process data and it exports values from certain record tables in Engineering Change Management. Using rules defined by yourself, you can check whether the user can continue and disallow this if necessary. You can display a system message to do this.
