New Development in Parameter Effectivity: Standard Variants

Scope of Functions

In a standard variant you save the values assigned to a number of effectivity parameters.

You create a standard variant if you want to reuse a set of values. In the Assign Parameter Effectivity Values dialog box you then no longer have to enter the individual values for effectivity parameters, but just the name of the standard variant. The system then inserts the corresponding set of values automatically.

Example

You use a standard variant, for example, to fix the parameter values for a product to be manufactured:

You process certain components in the bill of material for your product P100, according to the wishes of the customer, and process others according to the serial number. You therefore process the components using change numbers, which have the effectivity types CUSTOMER and SERNR.

You plan to manufacture the product P100 with the serial number 471 for Customer Smith. You therefore assign the values "Smith", "P100 and "471" to the effectivity parameters "CUSTOMER", "MATNR" and "SERNR" and save these assignments as a standard variant. If you later want to determine the product structure, you simply enter this standard variant.

Activities

To define a standard variant, choose Logistics -> Central functions -> Engineering Change Management -> Environment -> Parameter effectivity -> Maintain standard variant.
