Trigger Points / Standard Trigger Points / Trigger Point Groups

Description

From 3.0 onwards, you have the option of creating trigger points, standard trigger points and trigger point groups.

Trigger points

You can allocate a trigger point to an operation in a routing or in a production order.

Using a trigger point, you can specify that

  • a certain function is triggered when a certain status changes in the operation (for example during operation release)
  • the user can manually initiate a certain function when confirming an operation.

You can initiate the following functions using a trigger point in the production order:

  • Release of all preceding operations
  • Release of all following operations up to and including the operation with the end of release indicator
  • Release of all directly following operations
  • Creation of a further production order (without ref. to material)
  • Insertion of a reference operation set
  • Triggering a workflow task (for example a mail message to a user)

You can also specify whether a function is triggered only once or whether it is triggered every time the predefined status changes.

Standard trigger points

You can create standard trigger points in the routing menu or the production order menu. A standard trigger point is used as a reference for creating trigger points. If you refer to a standard trigger point when creating a trigger point, the system transfers all necessary data from the standard trigger point into the trigger point. The effort required to enter data is reduced if you use standard trigger points.

Trigger point groups

In Customizing, you can group several standard trigger points together in a trigger point group. With reference to the trigger point group, you can copy all standard trigger points contained in the group into an operation. This further reduces the entry effort required.

Further information on (standard) trigger points can be found in the manual 'PP - Production orders' or in Customizing (see DS:CHAP.SIMG_CMMENUOLPFEP>'Milestone').
