Order Split

Scope of Functions

Order split provides you with the option of splitting an existing production order that has already been worked on into two separate orders (parent order, child order). You enter the quantity that is to be split from the original order and define as of which operation the order is to be split. The system automatically determines the quantities and the dates for both orders and calculates the costs. For the child order, you can specify new scheduling data and an order type that is different to the one in the parent order.

The structure of the parent order does not change. The structure of the child order is a copy of a partial quantity of the objects in the parent order. The system status indicates whether or not an order has been split: Parent order SPLT (split), child order CSPL (created by splitting), split operation SPLT.

Orders can be split several times. As a result, a split hierarchy is created, which is represented in a graphic. You can navigate freely in the split hierarchy.

Order split is subject to the following restrictions:

  • Orders in a collective order cannot be split
  • A subtree cannot be added to orders in a split hierarchy
  • Parent order and child order must both be settled to the same product cost collector
  • Reading master data is not possible for orders in a split hierarchy
  • For production orders that have taken part in an order split, the material cannot be changed
  • You cannot enter any confirmations in the order header
