KANBAN: Quantity Signal

Description

Instead of triggering the kanban signal by setting a container to "empty", you can withdraw quantities from containers in a control cycle with the quantity signal. In this case, the actual quantity in the container is reduced by the withdrawal quantity recorded in the quantity signal. The system recognizes when the actual quantity of a container is zero and automatically sets the container to empty.

The exact procedure is as follows:

The container is set to the status "in use" as soon as the first withdrawal is posted from the container. Once the container is completely emptied, it is set to the status, "empty" and replenishment is triggered. If the withdrawal quantity exceeds the rest quantity in the container, the actual quantity of the next container is reduced and this container is set to the status, "in use".

The sequence of the containers from which withdrawals are made is controlled as follows:

First, the containers with status, "in use" are completely emptied. Then the system selects the container that has been sitting the longest with the status, "full".

As opposed to the procedure without "quantity signal", the actual quantity of the container is significant.

The system sets the container to "full" as normal with the Kanban signal.

Execution

  1. If you want to work with the quantity signal, use the function, Control -> Quantity signal in the main Kanban menu.
  2. Enter the control cycle number or specify the control cycle by entering the material, plant and supply area.
  3. Enter the withdrawal quantity.
  4. Save your entries.

If only the actual quantity of a container is changed, the system displays the message, "Quantity was reduced".
If in the background, the status of a container is changed, then the container appears with its new status in the list of processed containers.

If you want to use the quantity signal, you do not have to change Kanban customizing or the Kanban master data. The procedure with quantity signal is carried out simply by using the function, "quantity signal". It is also possible to combine the kanban and the quantity signals.

Warning

Only the actual quantity of the container is updated when you use the quantity signal - no stock postings are carried out. The stock postings are carried out when the material is backflushed.
