Demand Management: Totals Display of the Independent Requirements Schedule Lines

Description

The schedule lines that are created for an independent requirement item can either be displayed as individual periods or in release 3.0, they can be displayed as totals.

The system refers to the first requirements distribution of the independent requirements item. The periodicity created in the first distribution is displayed in the schedule lines screen. With this functionality (display as period totals), you can achieve a situation where further splits into smaller periods are only displayed if they are manually called up. Thus, the schedule lines screen is more transparent, especially if the independent requirements items are split right down to daily requirements.

You can make the necessary settings as to whether the schedule lines are only displayed as totals, or whether every further period split is also displayed in either the requirements parameters or in Customizing:

  • User-specific via requirements parameters:
In the initial screen for creating independent requirements, select the pushbutton, Requirements parameters. In the dialog box, set whether you want the system to display the schedule lines according to the period splits or the period totals.
  • Per planning transaction in Customizing:
In Customizing for demand management set per transaction whether the schedule lines are to be displayed as period splits or as period totals.
The settings that are defined in Customizing can be overruled by the user-specific settings in the requirements parameters.

Steps to take

Decide how you want the schedule lines to be displayed.

Display as period split:

In the schedule lines screen, the system displays every periodicity. For example, if you split a yearly requirement into months first and then in a second step, you split the first three months into weekly requirements, then the systen displays every schedule line according to the new splits.

Display as period totals:

In the schedule lines screen, the schedule lines are only displayed according to the period in which they were created. If you have split the original periodicity into smaller periods (for example, a monthly requirement into weekly periods), these lines are highlighted, but they are still displayed according to the original periodicity. If you place the cursor on the highlighted line and double click, a dialog box appears with a display of the more detailed schedule lines. In this dialog box, however you cannot make any changes.
