Production version for subcontractors

Description

As of Release 4.5A, when exploding BOMs in the planning run, the system takes into account whether an assembly is being produced by different subcontractors or produced in-house with different BOMs. You can do this by creating a production version in the material master record of the assembly. You enter the alternative BOMs in the production version. You subsequently enter this production version in the subcontractor purchasing info record. Material requirements planning then copies the production version from the subcontractor purchasing info record, selects the corresponding BOM alternatives and explodes them.

You could already enter the production version in the subcontractor purchasing info record previous to Release 4.5A. This, however, was only taken into account in purchasing when assigning sources of supply.
