New Functions in the Planning Table

Description

In Release 4.5A, the following functions have been added to the planning table:

  • Updating component requirements
  • Disaggregated display of planning segments
  • Planning production in other plants
  • Moving production quantities backwards and forwards in time
  • Selecting columns and rows

These functions are described as follows:

Updating component requirements

If you change the production quantities for the assembly in the planning table, the requirements and the available quantities of components produced in-house (also planned in the planning table) are automatically updated. The updated components are displayed in the planning table immediately after modification, so that the planner can see whether the remaining available quantity is sufficient. He/she can then react immediately, adjusting the component production quantities in the planning table, as required.

Prerequisites for this function are that:

  • the component is produced in-house and planned with the planning table. You must therefore have created a valid production version in the material master record for the component.
  • you have selected both the assembly and the component produced in-house on accessing the planning table. You do this by accessing the planning table by MRP controller (if the MRP controller is responsible for the assembly and the components), or by product group (if you have created a product group for the assembly and components).

Disaggregated display of planning segments

Previously, it was only possible to display the planning segments in aggregated form. This is when production quantities of individual customer or project segments are displayed as totals. The requirements are cumulated and the available quantity refers only to the net segment. This means that, in make-to-order production, the requirements, available quantities and so on from all individual customer segments are summarized.

If you produce to order with SD scheduling agreements or plan production lots (Seiban), it is useful to display the information on individual segments individually, so that you can make entries with reference to an SD scheduling agreement or to a production lot directly. The disaggregated display of planning segments in the planning table has been introduced in Release 4.5A for this reason. When the planning segments are displayed in disaggregated form, you can display the availability, production, requirements and range of coverage rows for each individual segment. To set disaggregated display, you must select the appropriate planning segments in the initial screen for the planning table, and also enter the indicator 1 for disaggregated display in the field Planning segments.

Planning production in other plants

Previously, cross-plant planning was not available in the planning table. As of Release 4.5A, the planning table can also be used to plan production in other plants.

This function allows you to plan requirements for an assembly in one plant, but carry out production in another. For each planning plant, the planning table for the production plant contains separate rows. Per plant, there are separate rows for each individual production line and for the planned orders that are not yet assigned. You can thus edit and create planned orders for a specific planning plant.

Prerequisites for this function are that:

  • in the material master record for the assembly in the planning plant, you have entered a special procurement key for production at another plant.
  • in the material master record for the assembly in the production plant, you have created a production version.

Moving production quantities backwards and forwards in time

This replaces the previous roll-forward function, which you used to move due production quantities remaining from periods in the past to periods in the future. The new function enables you not just to move due production quantities from the past to the future, but to move any production quantities backwards or forwards in time, as required.

Selecting columns and rows

With a simple mouse-click, you can select rows and columns to define which production quantities you wish to edit collectively using the editing functions, for example reallocating quantities, moving them backwards or forwards in time, or distributing them over shifts.
