Shop Floor Dispatching and Monitoring Tool for SAP ERP

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, the Shop Floor Dispatching and Monitoring Tool for SAP ERP Add-On (SFDM) enables you to perform short-term planning on the shop floor.

The SFDM tool is the connection between production planning and shop floor execution. The desktop application graphically represents the real situation on the shop floor by displaying the worklist and the resources for which the production supervisor is responsible.

The SFDM tool supports the user with immediate visualization of production-relevant information. It draws his or her attention to an action, but no tasks are carried out without user involvement. Planning logic and automatisms are reduced to a minimum to take the demands of the shop floor environment into account.

The tool supports the following features:

  • Scheduling and dispatching
On the basis of several scheduling modes and scheduling directions, the production supervisor can easily dispatch capacity requirements from his or her worklist to resources using drag and drop, taking account of working and nonworking times. The display of capacity overloads or the machine status helps the production supervisor to quickly identify and react to potential bottlenecks.
Several capacity-requirement-related functions, such as grouping or fixing features, make scheduling more flexible.
  • Monitoring
Another main aspect of the tool is the monitoring of production progress. If your production is behind schedule, it is visualized at a glance with the help of alerts, for example, relating to scheduling data, or operation relationships. The order view displays details for these operation relationships. In addition, you can follow the confirmation progress of each capacity requirement.
For monitoring, you can create a specific display mode variant. In the SAP Easy Access menu, choose Logistics --> Production--> Shop Floor Control--> Dispatching and Monitoring Tool.
  • Personalization
The SFDM tool is highly personalizable. Starting with detailed Customizing, which allows you to include a large amount of your customer data using various BAdIs or a special text template, the tool offers an administrator's tool where you can define your personal colors, the ribbon settings, or some of the interactive behavior of the application. In the client application itself, the user can display and hide information such as alerts, planning dates, or quick info, according to his or her requirements.

Effects on Existing Data

With regard to master data, the SFDM tool requires a special modeling. Since the SFDM tool operates on the basis of single capacities, you have to create these single capacities for your work centers. You can use the report SFDCIC to generate the required modeling of the master data. If you decide not to deploy the SFDM tool at a later time, this modeling has no effect on your existing data.

The SFDM tool operates on the basis of splits. Once the data transfer takes place, a split is automatically generated for each capacity requirement. A SFDM-specific append structure has been added to the table KBEZ for this purpose. If you have not worked with splits before, your system will have a slightly increased data volume.

Effects on Data Transfer

If you have integration with an MES system that accesses production order data, operation data, or data dependent thereon, you have to adjust this integration.

Effects on System Administration

You use the authorization object C_SFDM_DIS to control the authorizations for the upload of the ERP back-end data into the client and the saving of the dispatching results. In addition, the SFDM Customizing is protected by an authorization group.

Effects on Customizing

You can configure the SFDM tool in Customizing under Production -→ Shop Floor Control -→ Dispatching and Monitoring Tool.
