Network: Changes for Release 3.0C

Description

The following enhancements have been made in the network in Release 3.0C:

  • Network for Planning
In the network type, you can set the indicator Planning for a network and thereby have the planned costs of networks be appended to your project. If the network is a planning network, all of its planned costs are appended to the WBS element to which it is assigned. However, this does not increase the assigned values. If you want to carry out detailed planning, you can use planning networks, for example, to take into account the costs of materials for which a preliminary order has been placed.

  • Allocation material components to WBS elements
For material components with item category non-stock item, you can now overwrite the WBS element on the Purchasing data detail screen. This is useful if you have placed a preliminary order for the material component for another WBS element in the planning phase and now want to correct the WBS element. In this way you can offset the preliminary order against the subsequent consumption.

  • With Release 3.0C, you can now enter negative values in a general costs activity. The negative values reduce the planned costs.

  • To simplify network maintenance, you can now copy the WBS element, profit center or business area from the network header into activities. To do this, choose the menu options Edit -> Transfer header data. You can choose whether existing data is overwritten during the transfer.

  • Changes in status management of networks
The status Technically complete is now available at activity level (previously available only at header level).

The status 'Technically complete' in the Network header:
  • can only be set after the status released

  • prohibits changes to header data

  • is transferred automatically into all activities

  • sets a deletion flag for the material components

  • prohibits the creation of new activities

  • reduces the capacity requirements, if they have not be reduced already in a final confirmation

  • allows actual postings such as confirmations

  • can be revoked.

The status 'Technically complete' in Network activity:
  • can only be set after the status released

  • prohibits changes to activity data

  • prohibits changes to dependent data such as activity elements, materials, PRTs.

  • sets a deletion flag for the material components

  • reduces the capacity requirements unless final confirmation has already taken place

  • is transferred automatically into all activity elements

  • allows actual postings such as confirmations

  • can be revoked.

The status closed is now available at both header and activity level in the network.

The status "closed" in the network header:
  • can only be set, if the status released or technically complete has already been set.

  • can only be set in header-assigned networks if a balance does not exist

  • can only be set, if all activities which require a confirmation have already been confirmed.

  • prohibits changes to header data

  • is transferred automatically into all activities

  • prohibits the creation of new activities

  • prohibits actual postings such as confirmations

  • can be revoked.

The status "closed" in network activity:
  • can only be set, if the status released or technically complete has already been set.

  • can only be set in activity-assigned networks if a balance does not exist

  • can only be set, if the activity which require a confirmation have already been confirmed.

  • prohibits changes to activity data

  • is transferred automatically into all activity elements

  • prohibits actual postings such as confirmations

  • prohibits changes to dependent data such as activity elements, materials, PRTs.

  • can be revoked.

  • Deletion in network/status deleted

Deletion of the network header is a new feature. The deletion indicator in the network header:
  • can only be set, if the status created or released is already set

  • deletes the network logically, but not physically

  • is transferred automatically into all activities

  • can be revoked, but does not affect activities, that is, they keep their deletion indicators.

The deletion indicator in network activity:
  • can also be set if the status created is set; the activity can also be deleted physically.

  • can be set, if the status released has already been set; the activity is then deleted logically.

  • causes the deletion flag be set automatically

  • is transferred automatically into all dependent activity data, such as activity elements.

  • cannot be revoked.

Note

You can revoke the statuses technically complete, complete and deletion indicator in the network header. However, the status is not revoked in all activities.

All activities can have the above-mentioned statuses, but the network header does not have to have the same status.
