Work breakdown structure: Enhancements in Release 3.0D

Description

The following enhancements have been made to the work breakdown structure in Release 3.0D:

• Copying a WBS with its settlement rule

Now when you copy a work breakdown structure or WBS element to create a new or expand an existing WBS, the system automatically copies the settlement rule as well. This function does not work for standard work breakdown structures.

If the WBS element you are copying does not have a settlement rule, the system copies the settlement rule from the project definition.

• Finding the next open number

When you create a new project, WBS element, or project version, you can now search for the next number available for the identifier. For example, when you create a new project definition, you can select the pushbutton Find open no. and enter an interval in which the system should search to locate the next open number.

When you create a new WBS element, you need only enter a level and a short description and the system automatically displays the dialog box which you can use to find the next open number.

You can specify whether you want to fill gaps starting at the beginning of the interval you entered next open or to find an open number after the last existing number in the interval you entered after last.

Example

There are the following projects:P001, P123 and P126. When you select Next open no. the system proposes P002 as the next project number. When you select after last, the system proposes P127 as the next project number.
