Cost Planning: New Features in 3.0
Description
The following functions have been added to structure-oriented cost planning in 3.0:
- Plan versions
- You can carry out cost planning in several versions. In contrast to earlier releases, you can not only store these plan versions separately, but can also
- change them
- You can change the values for structure-oriented planning, cost element planning, and unit costing.
- copy them
- You can copy the values for structure-oriented planning, cost element planning, and unit costing.
- You can choose:
- * which plan values are copied: annual and/or overall values
- * whether any existing plan data in the target version should be retained or overwritten
- compare them with each other in the information system
- Adjusting plan values
- You can increase or reduce the structure plan values for selected WBS elements by a percentage or an absolute amount.
- Distributed value
- As of Release 3.0, the distributed value for the structure plan values is comprised of the totals from the
- structure plan values of the directly subordinate WBS elements
- cost element plan values of the directly subordinate WBS elements
- unit costings from the directly subordinate WBS elements
- If you have carried out cost element planning in an earlier release, you can use BPDIST00 to convert the values.
- Totaling plan values
- Up to now, only structure plan values could be totaled. As of Release 3.0, the following plan values can be totaled:
structure plan for subordinate WBS elements | |
+ | cost-element plan for subordinate WBS elements |
+ | unit costings for subordinate WBS elements |
------------------------------------------------------------ | |
structure plan value for the superior WBS element |
- Note that this total is not identical with the plan total, as it still contains the plan values for the appended orders and networks assigned to the WBS elements.
- In addition, when totaling, you can specify whether you want to total
- overall values and/or
- selected annual values
- "Bottom-up planning" indicator in the cost planning profile in Customizing
-
The indicator determines whether the bottom-up procedure is to be used within structure-oriented planning.
If you set the indicator, the system carries out the function "total" for costs whenever you save or use the check function in structure planning. The structure plan value of the superior WBS element is the sum of all plan values of the directly subordinate WBS elements.
- Plan line items
- You can enter a long text and/or a short text for your plan line items.
- Copy view
- As well as the plan values, you can display various different views, such as the distributed value, and copy the value to selected WBS elements.
- In Release 3.0, you can transfer a percentage of the chosen view as a plan value or add it to the existing plan values.

- Plan versions
- In the Project System Implementation Guide, you determine:
- the fiscal years for which a plan version is valid
- whether a plan version can be changed
- whether a plan version can be copied
