Cover Pools and Unilateral Cover Eligibility

Description

Starting with Release 4.02A, you can define cover eligibility relationships between expenditures FM account assignments:

• If the budget for several expenditures FM account assignments may be used collectively, you can create a cover pool for these FM account assignments.

• If an expenditures FM account assignment may use the budget of other expenditures FM account assignments, without those FM account assignments also having access to its budget, you can define unilateral cover eligibility relationships.

Cover eligibility is achieved by a new type of assignment, the cross-assignment. This value specifies the assignments for which budget was no longer available in the hierarchy path of the FM account assignment to which the posting was made and which were therefore deposited on the Budget Structure Elements determined by the cover eligibility rules.

You can resolve cross assignments at any time by using the 'Prepare resolving cross assignments' program to restructure the budget in line with the cross assignments. Before you carry out the fiscal year change operation, all cross assignments must have been resolved.

If you want to implement cover pools and unilateral cover eligibility, you must first define the budget types that are eligible for cover in the Customizing of Funds Management. Besides this, it is also necessary to maintain number ranges for the cover pools. After activating cover eligibility, you can then maintain the cover eligibility relationships between expenditures FM account assignments in master data maintenance.

You can only use cover eligibility if:

• You are working with budget objects

• You are only working with budget and not with releases

• According to the budget profile, active availability control checks against years and budget

• Commitment type profiles are not used
