New Features in Earned Value Analysis

Description

From Release 4.5A, the earned value and percentage of completion (POC) are stored in a progress version. You can evaluate the original values in the information system, and those corrected by changes.

The new features in earned value analysis can be summarized as follows:

• Earned values can be determined for orders.

You stipulate the measurement method in the IMG for the order type.

• There are additional techniques for calculating the POC:

• Cost proportionality

• Quantity proportionality

• Actual = Plan

The calculated plan POC is adopted as the actual value.

• The POC and earned value can be calculated as of a particular date or for a period and can be stored in a progress version. You can evaluate the original earned values from earlier periods at any time, using the information system.

• Changes in the plan can be included in the earned value calculation, causing the actual earned values to be corrected.

• In the information system, you can view the original values and the values corrected as a result of changes in the plan.

• You can evaluate earned values by cost element.

• You can evaluate the POC and earned value in all standard reports, except hierarchy reports. In the hierarchy reports you can only evaluate the POC.

If you used earned value analysis in earlier releases and want to continue using the parameters and estimated POCs, you must execute program R_CNEV_EVOF_EVFG_2_EVOP_EVPOC.

Effects on Customizing

You must carry out the following in the Project System IMG:

• Maintain earned value version

• Define statistical key figure for percentage of completion

• Define measurement methods

• Define default values for measurement methods

• Define default values for measurement methods for orders

• Define default cost element

Changes to the Interface

You access the earned value calculation in the Project Execution menu by choosing Period-end closing -> Forecast/Earned value -> Individual earned value processing or Collective earned value processing.
