Mass Changes

Description

During the execution of complex long-term projects, particularly in the make-to-order area, it is often necessaary to make large scale changes im master data and assignments. You can use the new mass change function to execute changes to several or all objects in just a few work steps.

You can make changes in several projects or networks either online or in the background. The following changes are possible:

  • Change selected statuses (for example set the status "released")
  • Change selected assignments
  • Change selected attributes(fields)

You can also use mass changes to execute the "Scheduling" and "Costing" functions object for object.

Mass change can also be called up from the following functions:

  • Project information system (online and in the background)
By choosing Extras/Environment -> Mass changes
  • Project planning board or structure planning
By choosing Goto -> Mass change
  • From the a main menu
By choosing Project management -> Operative structures -> Tools -> Mass change -> Execute.

As you can execute mass changes in background processing, it is possible to plan the job so that it runs at regular intervals or at times outside normal working hours.

Mass changes made in the project planning board or structure planning reference the current project and are made, like all other changes, when you save the project.

Further notes

You cannot use mass changes to change the following:

  • Components
  • Activity elements
  • Milestones
  • PRTs
  • PS texts
  • Long texts

If changes are to be made to objects which are blocked, the system creates an error log.

You cannot reverse a mass change once it has been made.
