Planned Interest Calculation

Description

From Release 4.5A, a planned interest calculation is available, enabling you to improve the quality of your planning. Like actual interest, planned interest is calculated on the basis of the costs and reveneus planned for each cost element, along with payment plan data. The hierarchically oriented plan values in the WBS element are not included in the planned interest calculation.

Capital investment projects are not included in the planned interest calculation.

The planned interest calculation offers the following features:

  • It is available for projects and internal orders.
  • The planned interest is recorded by period.
  • Planned interest is calculated for one version at a time. Calculation of interest for delta versions is not supported.
  • You can carry out the planned interest calculation in active simulation versions.
  • Account is taken of hierarchy changes.
  • You can cancel the planned interest calculation.
  • You can use customer enhancements to:
  • Combine the basis for the interest calculation from external and internal values

  • Modify the items for which you want to calculate interest and define interest relevance

  • Process the interest calculated for an object, transfer it to an external system, and update it there.

  • Determine the to determine the interest calculation timeframe

Further notes

The planned interest is calculated as follows:

  • For costs, based on totals records
  • For payments
  • Based on line items if you have maintained the number range assignment in Customizing

  • Otherwise, based on totals records

The compound interest calculation is controlled using the cost elements defined for interest; it takes place monthly, or not at all.

The interest calculation timeframe begins when the costs are incurred and ends as follows, depending on which values are available:

  • At the scheduled WBS element finish
  • At the WBS element basic finish date
  • At the date entered in the initial screen.

You can use customer enhancment KPSPZIN4 to override the finish date for the interest calculation timeframe.

Changes to the Interface

In the Project Planning, the menu path Costs/Revenues -> Allocations includes the additional menu options Interest calculation - individual and Interest calculation - collective.
