New Functions for Bills of Material

Description

In Release 4.5A the following new functions are available for the maintenance and use of bills of material (BOM) in projects:

  1. As well as material BOMs and sales order BOMs there are now project bills of material. These project BOMs are used for the new planning type Planning of production lots (Seiban). The production lot for a particular assembly is modelled by a WBS element. You use the project BOM to create a BOM, which has a reference to the corresponding WBS element, for each production lot.
  2. The functionality for selecting and exploding BOMs has been extended in both network maintenance and the BOM/PS interface:
  • You can choose in principle between a material BOM, sales order BOM or project BOM.

  • In the case of a material BOM, you have to enter a material number, in the case of sales order BOMS and project BOMs the system can determine the material reference, if necessary.

  • When you enter a material and sales order item or WBS element, the system checks whether a special BOM exists. If this is not the case, a message is issued and the material MOM is exploded at the top level. At every further level the system checks for an object-specific BOM.

  • If you enter a meterial, but not a plant, the system tries to find a group BOM, so that it is no longer absolutely necessary to enter a plant.

  • In the requirements quantity you enter the quantity with which the assembly should be exploded.

  1. Since a BOM can be changed with history, it is necessary to enter a date on which a BOM is to be exploded.
    Instead of entering a number, you can now enter a change number, with which the date is determined.
    Otherwise today's date is suggested. In the case of explosion in the network, the earliest or latest start date or finish date of the current activity is suggested, depending on the settings.
