Functional Area in Funds Management Government
Scope of Functions
Starting with this release you have the possibility to structure your organization according to function aspects. In doing so, you show global goals and purposes (for example public safety, town planning etc.) - in particular organizational expenses. You have the new dimension type Functional area available to do this.
The previous FM account assignment that was put together with a funds center, commitment item and fund can be further subdivided using the functional area. In doing so, you can depict legal requirements on reporting according to functional aspects.
Note: For this release, the functional area is not released for European Commission and German Government customers.
Effects on Existing Data
If you have already used component Funds Management Government without a functional area and you want to introduce the functional area, you have to organizationally master the transition scenarios.
There are then still postings and budget without a functional area in the system whereas others already contain the functional area.

Effects on Customizing
If you want to use the functional area in your organization, you must make the appropriate settings for the functional area in the Customizing of Financial Accounting. In addition, you must activate the functional area in the customizing of Funds Management Government.
