Functions for Functional Area (Enhanced)
Use
In this release, the following new functions are available for the functional area:
Direct Account Assignment of Functional Area in Other Components
Previously, you could only directly enter a functional area in Funds Management; in other components, it was not possible to directly assign a functional area to an account. Starting from this release, you can assign a functional area to an account in Financial Accounting (FI), Asset Accounting (FI-AA), Overhead Cost Controlling (CO-OM) and Materials Management (MM) together with the other account assignment elements of these components.
Entering a functional area in these components allows you to manage assets for individual functional areas, directly enter a functional area when posting an invoice, a down payment or a down payment request in FI and perform activity allocations in Controlling or invoice orders for assets specifically for an individual functional area.
Deriving Functional Areas Using New Account Assignment Derivation Tool
You can derive functional areas from other account assignments by defining the relevant assignments in the new Funds Management account assignment derivation tool. The functional area will then appear in transactions in other components as a default value that can be overwritten if necessary. The functional area must always have a concrete value. SPACE will not be accepted by the system as a valid account assignment value.

Planning and Plan Data Transfer at Functional Area Level
You can carry out planning at functional area level in Controlling and copy this plan data to budget planning in Funds Management, whereby the detailing of functional area remains the same. To enable this, the Plan Data Transfer from CO program has been enhanced accordingly.
Editing Functional Area Groups in the Menu
Previously, functional areas were created in the Customizing of Financial Accounting. Starting from this release, you can edit your functional areas in Funds Management master data maintenance.
Functional Area Group
Starting from this release, you can also summarize functional areas that belong together in groups. You can then make selections in Controlling transactions and in the Reporting of Controlling according to functional area groups. However, you cannot make selections using functional area groups in Funds Management.

You activate the functional area in the Customizing of Funds Management Government under Basic Settings -> Activate Account Assignment Element.
