New Features in Progress Analysis

Scope of Functions

Progress analysis has been enhanced for this release to make it easier to use and include new functions.

Interface

  • In the report on progress analysis, you can choose the progress version directly by means of a button in the application toolbar.

Functions

  • Assignment of Measurement Methods for POC Determinatin to Standard Templates
In Release 4.6A, you can assign measurement methods to standard networks and standard WBSs, as well as to operative structures. If the measurement method uses is base on either Estimation or Secondary proportionality, note the following:
  • Estimation:

In this technique, you maintain a plan/actual percentage of completion (POC) for each period. The system uses the maintained dates to determine the periods. As no dates are maintained in standard templates, you cannot define estimated values per period there. If you now create an operative project based on such a template, you need to enter the estimated values per period manually there.
  • Secondary proportionality:

In this technique, you define a base object for each WBS element, network activity, or activity element. The system determines the respective POC in line with the POC in the base object. In standard structures, therefore, you choose only standard WBS elements and activities or elements from standard networks as your base objects. If you copy this template to an operative structure, only the base objects created along with the current object are replace with operative base objects. Where this cannot be done, the base object remains unchanged.
  • Customer-specific POC calculation
From this release, you can define your own measurement methods for calculating the POC and assign them to objects. For this purpose, the system includes a user exit for the customer-specific measurement method. This user exit is access for all objects where the technique used to calculate the POC is based on this method. You can only use this new technique if the user exit is active.
  • Storing Graphic Settings
Transaction CNE5 now stores the field selection for the period drilldown graphic in a subprofile, in the same way as it stores the field selection for the list display. Like the other subprofiles, the graphic field selection profile is managed in customizing and can be assigned to PS info profiles. You also have the option of storing your own settings (color, legend, and so on).
  • Enhanced Progress Calculation Log
In addition to the information on the selected objects, the log now also contains information on the selection criteria (controlling area, project, and so on) and process control (test run or live run).
