Status by Period: Evaluation in Results Analysis

Scope of Functions

During execution of the functions for project results analysis, plan results analysis, and project-related incoming orders, the system evaluates the status of the WBS elements to be processed. This is necessary because these statuses determin the processing logic and valuation approach used.

Evaluation of the status information has changed for this release.

Background

The project results analysis and project-related incomingn order functions are execute for each settlement period on the first day of the following period. For processing by period, the system must evaluate the status information for WBS elements as of the end of the settlement period.

Previously, the status evaluation took place as follows:

• For the results analysis function, by interpretation of status change documents

• For the project-related incoming orders function, when the function was executed
  Status interpretation by period, however, was only possible if all the status changes relevant to period-end closing had taken place in the closing period.

• In the case of the planned results analysis function, status evaluation consists of an evaluation of the active actual status at the time of the program run.

These restrictions no longer apply with the new function Status Evaluation by Period in Results Analysis.

Functions

• The date of the status change is recorded in a table. During status interpretation, the system checks whether the status change took place during the closing period.

The Order accepted status is an exception. Here, the system uses the date the SD order was entered, not the date the status changed.

• The new function allows you to overwrite the status change data manually and online, backdating it, for example, to the closing period if required. This makes it possible to take account of status changes made after the period end.

• For the first time, you can now enter data for planned status changes for the planned results analysis function. This means you can determine the status of a WBS element by period in planning too.

• The function is supported for the following statuses:

• Released

• Order accepted

• Final invoice

• Technically complete

Effects on Customizing

To this end, go the Project System IMG and choose Revenues and Earnings -> Automatic and Periodic Allocations -> Activate Time Dependency of System Status.
