Deleting Structures

Scope of Functions

As of Release 4.6A, you can delete complete structures online in the Project System even when they have been released. This deletion function is available for the following objects:

  • Projects with assigned network headers and activities in the project planning board and structure planning (transaction CJ20 and CJ2B)
All the preconditions for deletion must be met; these are the same as those which previously applied to flagging objects for deletion or to deleting objectw which have "created" status. The system conducts no hierarchy checks when you delete the whole project.
From "released" status, you require the appropriate authorization (activity 06: Delete) before you can delete structures.
Once a WBS element has "released" status, it cannot be delted if it has been distributed using ALE or if there are active simulation versions.
When you a delete a whole project, all the versions belonging to it are also deleted.
Where networks are being deleted, the system takes account of any residence times which have been entered. If the residence time is more than zero, an object with "released" status cannot be deleted. If you try to delete such an object, the system displays an error message.
If you delete a whole project, subnetworks are not automatically deleted too. The system displays an appropriate error message; you must then delete any existing subnetworks manually before you can delete the project.
  • Projects Without Assigned Network Headers and Activities
    (transaction CJ02)
Deleting projects in transaction CJ02, in addition to the conditions for deletion in the planning board or structure planning, also requires that no network headers or activities are assigned to the WBS elements.
  • Networks (transaction CN22)
The conditions described for projects with networks apply.
  • Standard projects (transaction CJ92)
As there is no transaction where you can process the standard WBS and standard networks simultaneously, you must delete these objects singly.
You cannot delete the standard project definition until all the standard WBS elements belonging to it have been deleted.
As before, you can delete standard WBS elements to which no standard networks (headers or activities) have been assigned.
