Short/Long-Term Disability Plan Administration
Scope of Functions
The Short/Long-Term Disability Plan Administration function has been added to the Payroll Canada component for this release. Using this function, you can establish short- or long-term disabililty plans for various groups of employees within your organizational structure to manage the illness-related absences of employees. Within a plan you can determine:
- the number of illness days an employee takes before short-term disability starts
- the length of each short-term disability period, and when long-term disability begins
- the percentage of salary an employee receives during each short-term disability period
A Short/Long-Term Disability Status Report has also been included in this release. This report enables you to easily monitor your employees who are on short-term disability. To access this report from the main Payroll Canada menu, choose Period-independent → Reporting → STD/LTD Status.
Effects on Customizing
Before using this function for the first time, you must complete the configuration steps in the Short/Long-Disability Plans section of the Payroll Canada Implementation Guide (IMG). To access these steps within the Canada Payroll IMG, choose Absences -> Short/Long-Disability Plans.
