Off-cycle payroll functionality
Use
The main use of the off-cycle functionality is the 13th payrll run. It enables an extra payroll run at the end of the year. Additionally, the off-cycle functionality provides the following features:
- An additional payroll run at any time. This includes the possibility of an 14th, 15th etc. payroll run and is refered to as a correction run.
- Bonus run: Enables paying a bonus at any time independent from the regular payment dates.
Effects on Existing Data
The Norwegian payroll driver and most legal reports are changed due to the introduction of off-cycle functionality. The changes are mostly of technical nature, due to the conceptual change from periods to dates. This means that all your (own) reports reading or processing payroll results need to be reviewed. Please refer to the document "Reports and Off-cycle" for further information on this change process. See below.
There are also some changes in the payroll schema V000 due to the off- cycle functionality. Refer to the "customizing" chapter for information on this.
A new tool for handling off-cycle payroll run is introduced called Off-Cycle Workbench. We recommend to use this tool for bonus off-cycle runs and for testing the new off-cycle functionality. If you however want to run a 13th payroll run for a group of employees, we recommend to use the payroll driver as for a normal payroll run. You only need to fill out the extra fields for off-cycle processing on the selection screen accordingly.
Infotype One-Time Payments Off-Cycle (IT 0267) is activated for use in connection with bouns off-cycle runs.
Effects on System Administration
There is no Payroll control record (PA03) for off-cycle runs. We recommend you to solve the authorisation problem using the possibilities within the role concept.
Effects on Customizing
There is a new chapter in the Norwegian IMG structure with the new customizing steps called Off-Cycle activities. Go through these steps thoroughly and read the documentation to each step. Off-Cycle Activities
- Wagetypes
A new wagetype M165 is created for the bonus run handling. It will be delivered with percent taxation as the only Norwegian wage type.
- Processing class
Processing class 76 is activated for Norway, allowing to decide wether to valuate a wage type in a special run or not.
- Payroll schema V000
The main changes are the new sub-schema VCHK disabling any net-negative payroll result and branchings depending on off-cycle run or normal payroll run (IF SPRN ...). Compare your schema with the changes and apply them accordingly to enable off-cycle payroll runs.
