Use
In the system, you can now process the following types of maternity leaves:
- Government Paid Maternity Leave (GPML)
- As of October 2004, the Government of Singapore has extended the eight weeks of maternity leave to 12 weeks. For the first two confinements of a married working woman, the employer will pay the employee for the first eight weeks of maternity leave and the government will fund the remaining four weeks. In the case of the third and the fourth confinement, the government will fund the complete twelve weeks of pay.
- If agreed to by the employer, the employee can take the flexibly take these additional four weeks of maternity leave, anytime within six months of the birth of the child. The employer pays this salary to the employee and later claims the same from the government.
- Government Paid Adoption Leave (GPAL)
- The Government of Singapore will pay up to four weeks of salary to mothers who adopt a child on or after August 1, 2004.
The new GPML and GPAL functionality comprises:

- A new Assign the Absence subtype for Government Paid Maternity Leave feature (RGPML), to identify the Leave Types. You can also create customer specific sub types for GPML and GPAL using this feature.
- The following new wage types to store the GPML/GPAL related amounts:
- GPML AW Amount (/MLA)
- GPML Base Amount (/MLB)
- GPML CPF Amount(/MLC)

- The following new constants to specify the maximum permitted days of GPML and the minimum number of days of employment required for the employee to be entitled to GPML:
- Days passed since joining (GMLJP)
- Maximum no. of leaves for GPML (GMLMX)
Note
- The GPML/GPAL calculations also depend on the information maintained in the Family/Related Person infotype (0021). Ensure that you have maintained the Number of children and their Date of Birth in this infotype.
- For maternity leave calculations starting October 01, 2004 the system will make use of the GPML functionality. For the previous periods, the system will make use of the Third Child Maternity Leave functionality.
