QM: Catalog Enhancements

Description

This release note describes the catalog enhancements for Release 3.0.

  1. Status for code groups and selected sets

The following statuses can now be assigned to the objects code group and selected set:
  • 1 the master record is created

  • 2 the master record is released

  • 3 the master record may no longer be used

  • 4 the master record is marked for deletion

Only code groups and selected sets which have been assigned status 2 can be used in other objects. Master records which were created before Release 3.0 are automatically assigned status 2 when the release is upgraded.
  1. Combined text from code group and code

When catalog entries are used, it is often the case that only the description of the code is displayed, but not that of the code group.
By using the special character '&' in the text of the code group, it is now possible for you to display a combination of the texts for code group and code for the code. The position of the special character determines where the text of the code is inserted in the text of the code group.
Example
Description of the code group: Component & defective
Description of the code: Transistor
Display: Component transistor defective
  1. "Possible entries" help function for codes, code groups and selected sets

The "possible entries" help function for selecting a code, a code group or a selected set has been revised. If you perform a generic search (by entering *) and press the possible entries pushbutton (F4), any possible catalog entries are displayed in a hierarchical list in a screen window.
You can carry out a generic search using the special characters '+' and '*'.
Example
If you enter '+A*' in the field for the code, a search will be carried out for a code whose second character is the letter 'A'.
  1. Usage indicators for codes, code groups and selected sets

In the catalog entries code, code group and selected set, a usage indicator is set when they are used for the first time. This prevents these objects from being deleted by mistake.
