OPS_QM_NOTIFICATION: Sending Notifications with Attachments (Enhanced)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enterprise Extension PLM, Enhancement Package 4 (EA-PLM 604), Business Function OPS_QM_NOTIFICATION, you can use a new follow-up function to send a quality notification with attachments as an e-mail.

E-mails are sent using the central SMTP function (Single Mail Transfer Protocol) for sending e-mails from SAP applications.

The following were enhanced under Quality Management -> Quality Notifications -> Notification Processing -> Additional Notification Functions:

  • New follow-up actions for tasks
The new follow-on action QMMAIL can be found under Define Follow-Up Actions for Tasks.This uses function module QM06EA_SEND_PDF_PAPER_STEP3 (after processing, synchronized processing).
  • Adjusted action box
An activity for sending a notification with the following properties is entered for each notification type under Define Functions for the Action Box:
  • Executed function module when calling the activity: QM06EA_FM_TASK_SEND_PDF_PAPER

  • Function module when saving: QM06EA_SEND_PDF_PAPER_STEP2

  • Use in "Every View (Create, Change)" and "Notification"

  • Documentation as task

  • Code group and code for task that is to be created The new follow-up action QMMAIL must be assigned to the code in Customizing with function module QM06EA_SEND_PDF_PAPER_STEP3.

The function for sending e-mails is set up in the standard Customizing for notification types F1-F3 and Q1-Q3. If you want to use the function for your own notification types, you can copy the settings for the Send E-Mail with Attachments activity from the specified notification types.
