Checks in Material Assessment (Enhanced)

Use

As of SAP Product and REACH Compliance 2.0, you can perform additional material assessment checks. You can execute all checks on the SAP Netweaver Portal or using the compliance workbench. You can now also choose to ignore irrelevant components for regulatory lists and customer-specific lists when you perform these checks.

The following additional checks are supported:

  • Check for SVHC candidate list
This check helps you to ensure that articles are compliant with the REACH regulations with respect to the SVHC candidate substances. Articles are not permitted to contain a concentration of these substances above 0.1% weight by weight.
  • Enhanced checks in the compliance workbench
You can now use the compliance workbench to perform the same material assessment checks as in Material Assessment (Bulk Maintenance)on the SAP Netweaver Portal. The system now also checks that the assigned real substances contain the necessary compositions.
  • Hazardousness check and calculation based on the Globally Harmonized System (GHS)
In earlier releases, the hazardousness calculation used risk phrase data. The hazardousness calculation now uses GHS data by default.
  • Check that article structures are compliant with the REACH regulations
  • REACH assessment and check that articles are correct
The REACH correctness check is part of the material assessment check. It ensures that the REACH compliance structure of an article is correct. The following check criteria were added:
  • Assessment of bulk nature

Checks that the bulk nature is assessed if the article product structure contains a surface material or a bulk material.
  • Assessment of material nature

Checks that the article material nature is assessed if the article contains a bulk material with a bulk nature assessed as Substance/Preparation As Such, Intentionally Released Substance or Integral Part of Article.
  • Material nature conflict

Depending on the article material nature, checks that a correct material nature is assessed for all contained materials.
  • Bulk nature conflict

Checks that an article does not contain a bulk material assessed as Substance/Preparation As Such and a bulk material assessed as Intentionally Released Substance at the same time.
  • Irrelevant component for check

Effects on System Administration

Effects on Customizing

If you have your own implementation of BAdI /TDAG/RCS_BADI_011, note that the default implementation (class /TDAG/CL_DEF_IM_RCS_BADI_011) has been changed. In earlier releases, risk phrases were checked. Now the GHS classification property is checked by default. To reactivate the risk phrase check, set class attribute MC_FLG_USE_GHSto false (' ').

Check the settings for REACH SVHC checks in Customizing for Product and REACH Compliance under Checks -> Specify Checks and Single Criteria.

The following changes have been made in Customizing for Product and REACH Compliance:

  • The Specify Regulatory Lists and Customer Lists Customizing activity contains an additionalattribute, Regulatory list ignores not relevant components during check. This checkbox indicates that the compliance check that the regulatory list is assigned to ignores components that are not relevant. You must select this indicator for the REACH SVHC checks.
  • Customizing for the REACH material assessment check was adapted to ensure that the article structure is REACH-compliant. For this purpose, the REACH material assessment check contains additional check criteria. You make the settings for the REACH material assessment check under Checks -> Specify Checks and Single Criteria.
